Go back to Journal Main Page Status Report The Game Library release 2 is for the most part on target. The team is still working on the last few features and improvements but we should be able to meet the June 15 beta test milestone. The Dark Hall Game Requirement Specification is behind schedule and will not meet the May 31 deadline. It is on the plan but finishing up release 2 of the Game Library is most important right now. Chuck's Comments... It's been a busy month at Green Blooded Games. A majority of the work has been trying to meet the May 31 Game Library release 2 deadline. It has been going well but the effort always takes more than what was estimated! I have to admit that release 2 is really cool. The Game Library makes it easy to build game applications using DirectX. Some of the latest features provided by DirectX 9 are going to be exposed through the release 2 of the Game Library. In addition to packing new features into the new Game Library, a host of design improvements were made to the existing features. The rest of the time for the month of May has been spent on conceptualizing the next game application, Dark Hall (DH). Dark Hall is a working title but has potential to be the actual game name, we'll see. DH will definitely be the most polished game that GBG has put forth. The team has learned many things about building games through Little Green Men and Near Space. I will say that the team has probably more enthusiasm and "get 'up and go" now more than ever. Hopefully that will turn into some fun games! - Chuck Linda's Comments... Completing Near Space took a lot out of the team and I was not that happy with the way it turned out. Something was missing. Chuck totally did not want me to say this in my comments but I think it's good for the game players to hear. They should know that we feel we can do better. Release 2 of the Game Library is pretty cool, although I don't understand a lot of what Chuck and Chen are doing. I'm helping out by putting together test scripts for the different features to be tested. I have also been spending some time looking for solid graphics and audio tools. Come back for Dark Hall, that game should play! Luv'Ya, Linda Chen' Comments... I have spent some serious time going through the DirectX 9 new features. I am not for using the DX 9 interfaces throughout all of the Game API. I feel that we only need to use what we need from DX 9 and keep everything else at the lowest common denominator so that the Game Lib works on more machines. chen
